Traditional Steel Garden Edging Hoops
Edging hoops offer a simple, enduring way to bring structure and clarity to the garden without overpowering it. Used to define the edge of paths, borders, lawns and vegetable beds, they create a subtle visual boundary that keeps planting where it belongs while allowing the garden to feel natural and informal — very much in keeping with the traditional English cottage garden style.
The edging hoops supplied by us at Lincolnshire Plant Supports Ltd are made from 8mm solid steel, chosen for its strength, weight and long service life. Each hoop is hand bent by us in Lincolnshire, ensuring consistency of shape and a robust finish that will stand up to years of use in the garden. They are supplied uncoated, allowing the steel to develop a natural rusted patina over time. This soft, weathered finish blends effortlessly into soil, stone and planting, avoiding the harshness of painted or plastic alternatives and becoming more attractive with age.
Each pack contains six edging hoops, providing coverage of approximately 1.8 metres. The hoops are designed to be simply pushed into the ground, making installation quick and straightforward with no specialist tools required. Once in place, they form a stable, long-lasting edge that helps prevent plants from spilling onto paths and lawns.
For experienced gardeners, edging is as much about practicality as appearance. These hoops offer a discreet solution that supports the overall structure of the garden without drawing attention to itself. They are strong enough to cope with heavier soils and regular foot traffic along paths, making them suitable for both ornamental and productive areas of the garden.
As a secondary benefit, edging hoops can also help discourage pets from running across borders and vegetable beds, creating a gentle physical boundary without fencing or netting. This makes them particularly useful around newly planted areas where young plants need time to establish.
While this product is currently available in a standard size (see pictures), custom sizes can be made on request, allowing you to tailor the edging to your specific garden layout. Built to last and designed with restraint, these edging hoops are a permanent garden feature — practical, honest, and rooted in traditional craftsmanship.
