ARE WE PLASTIC FREE?

Are We Plastic Free?

Why We're Proud to Be a Mostly Plastic-Free Company

At Lincolnshire Plant Supports Ltd, sustainability isn’t a buzzword — it’s part of our DNA. From the very beginning, we made a conscious decision to operate as close to a plastic-free company as possible, and that commitment guides every choice we make.

A Conscious Commitment

We believe the future of gardening and growing should be in harmony with the environment. That’s why we purchase as little materials or packaging that contain plastic as absolutely necessary. Whether it's the materials used in our products, or the packaging we use to ship orders to our customers — you will find almost no plastic material  purchased by us. Instead, we use recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable alternatives like kraft paper, jute twine, and cardboard — all thoughtfully selected to keep our environmental impact as low as possible.

The Bit We Can't Control

That said, we want to be transparent. While we go to great lengths to keep plastic out of our supply chain, we don’t have control over how products and materials are packaged before they reach us. On occasion, suppliers or couriers may send items in plastic packaging. When this happens, we do our best to reuse, repurpose, or recycle these materials responsibly, This may include reusing the material to protect items we send to you.

So What Plastic Do We Use?

While we try to use non-plastic materials wherever possible, there are some jobs for which a plastic item really is the only workable option. Stock binding for example. Once we have produced a batch of items, we like to bundle them into easily countable packs. For this we have found re-usable cable ties to be the most convenient solution. If an order contains multiple heavy items, we may use these cable ties to ensure items reach you in perfect condition. If we do use reusable cable ties in your order PLEASE DON’T CUT THEM! They can be reused in your garden for many years. You will also receive a discount code to say thank you for not cutting the ties!

We also occasionally use hot-glue to stabilise our packaging. This helps us ensure packages reach you, our customers in as near perfect condition as possible.

We do not use any plastic banding or packing tape.

Why It Matters

Plastic pollution is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. By refusing to add to the problem, we hope to set an example for how small businesses can make a big difference. Our customers often tell us that our thoughtful packaging and waste-free ethos are part of why they choose to support us — and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Working Together

We’re proud to stand with growers, gardeners, and businesses who care about the planet. Being plastic-free is a journey as much as a policy, and we continue to review and refine our approach as new, better materials become available.

If you're a supplier, we encourage you to join us in reducing plastic. And if you're a customer, thank you for supporting a business that puts the environment first.

Together, we can keep growing — sustainably.
